On December 27, 2024, DrukSmart celebrated its 7th Foundation Day with pride and joy. While the event was filled with moments of reflection and celebration, one highlight stood out—the heartfelt and inspiring speech delivered by our CEO and Founder, Mr. Pema Tshering.
His words encapsulated the journey of DrukSmart, the challenges faced, the milestones achieved, and the vision for the future. Below is the full speech, shared exactly as it was delivered during the celebration.
Mr. Pema Tshering, CEO and Founder Address During the 7th DrukSmart Foundation Day
I am delighted to welcome all our distinguished guests this evening at the Le Méridien, Thimphu as we gathered here to celebrate the 7th Anniversary of DrukSmart as DrukSmart officially turns 7 today.
Looking back on this journey of seven years, we feel thrilled and overwhelmed with joy. This journey of 7 years was no less than a rollercoaster ride—full of ups and downs, but eventually, through innovation, passion, patience, trust, hard work, collaboration, and excellence we found our path to success.
We would like to thank Hon’ble Mejay Lyonpo Gem Tshering, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, RGOB for gracing our celebration and blessing us. Back in 2018, when I and my co-founder Mr. Avinash started DrukSmart, we celebrated our first project won through Mejay when His Excellency was serving as the CEO of Bhutan Power Corporation Ltd. This first project has paved our road to more projects under BPC and DHI companies. The award of that project was a testament to the enormous support and visionary leadership of Mejay and the management of BPC to support the startups, the private sector, and entrepreneurs to fuel the success of the country as Bhutan now moves towards a technologically advanced intelligent nation and a thriving digital economy fueled by the IT private sector.
We have always acknowledged our first project won on our every foundation day and this evening, we are so proud to say this again in the presence of Your Excellency Mejay Lyonpo joining our celebration, and we would like to dedicate our 7 years of success to the visionary support Mejay has placed on us. Thank you la Mijay.
On this important day, we also would like to thank the CEO and management of BPC for trusting us and being our oldest and very important account in Bhutan.
As we celebrate the 7th Foundation Day, we would like to celebrate the achievement of Nu. 500 million in sales and Nu. 300 million in revenue over the last seven years.
We currently are a full-time DrukSmartians of 20 employees where 7 of them have worked on Export Projects; and we recently celebrated the deployment of our first onsite Bhutan consultant in Saudi Arabia and look forward to deploying more such suited booted Bhutanese consultants in the international market. We have deployed 73 partner consultants—14 onsite and 59 offshore under Export services this FY. DrukSmart has reached an extraordinary milestone in 2024 by securing its 100th work order (73 orders from the domestic market and 27 from the export market), which is a testament to our unwavering commitment to excellence.
We are delighted to secure our first GovTech project this year under our ITES services after a successful ITES project delivery with the Pema Secretariat on Microservices with HA. We have also worked with Save the Children - Bhutan Country Office on two projects. Our new customer logos added to our list this FY are Peljorkhang Pvt Ltd, Aha Oxy Gases Pvt Ltd, Bhutan Duty Free Ltd, Bhutan Youth Development Fund, and SAT Enterprise, while successfully managing our TTPL, DHI, and BPC accounts in driving enterprise application and digital transformation. This year, we achieved a whopping 184 million in Revenues which is 170% YOY Growth in Revenue compared to last year which was 68 million.
We achieved 96% of the Revenue from Export Services.
We contributed more than Nu. 5.500 million to RRCO in the form of Salary Tax and TDS this FY.
On the other side, our domestic sales this FY was only 2% of our total Sales, with 98% sales under Export. We thus see a huge opportunity to collaborate with customers, stakeholders, and partners in Bhutan and achieve exponential growth in domestic sales and revenue, which is very important to build local talents, generate more employment opportunities, and deploy them to the export market.
As important as it is to keep on striving for success, we also need to sustain our present efforts to be able to, as fast as possible, return to the path of prosperity and development.
All in all, we are proud to have such a strong and enthusiastic ecosystem and team. As our progress is rewarding, we are very excited to maintain this trajectory. I truly believe our passion will help us build on the solid business foundation we’ve laid with commitment, respect, and a sustainable approach during these 7 years.
