Project: Integration of SAP ISU System with AMI (Advanced Meter Infrastructure) System

DrukSmart Private Limited and Thimphu Techpark Ltd celebrated a successful milestone on December 30, 2022, with the seamless integration of the SAP ISU system and the Advanced Meter Infrastructure (AMI) system for Bhutan Power Corporation Limited. This collaborative effort is poised to revolutionize the utility landscape by enhancing the precision and automation of meter reading processes. The integration not only streamlines billing procedures but also significantly curtails meter reading costs, thereby bolstering operational efficiency in billing and energy data management.

The primary objectives of this integration endeavor include the detection and prevention of tampering and energy theft, real-time monitoring of power quality, and reliability analysis. By facilitating two-way communication between smart meters and the utility company, the AMI system establishes a crucial link between the SAP ISU system and the metering platform. This connectivity ensures a smooth exchange of information, allowing Bhutan Power Corporation Limited to achieve unparalleled accuracy and efficiency in its operations. The initial phase targets the integration of 5000 smart meters within the Electricity Supply Division (ESD) in Thimphu. This implementation will automate manual tasks such as meter reading and billing disconnection/reconnection. Looking ahead, the success of this phase sets the stage for a broader rollout to other Electricity Supply Divisions and Subdivisions (ESDs/ESSDs), marking a significant leap towards technological excellence and improved customer service in the energy sector.
